Mpulungkinya Track Patrol

18/09/2019

What a privilege to patrol the awesome tracks in Finke Gorge National Park. But someone’s got to do it. The patrol is to ensure all is well with the walk and to identify any issues. It has to be done on a regular basis. This trail goes further up palm valley, up along the sandstone plateau.

Along the way I stopped to do some bird watching at a couple of small water hole. There was plenty of noise, but the birds were hard to spot. It is very surprising hoe many different species of birds thrive in this arid environment.

I spotted, as well as ducks, this Black faced Cockatoo Shrike.

And this Spiney Cheeked Honey Eater

After the patrol, the rest of the day was mainly spent doing service checks.
